Chainlink (LINK) launches its Transporter bridge

Thursday, leader of the crypto-oracles Chainlink (LINK) introduced its new product: a bridge called Transporter. The latter is built on its technology stack “Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol» (CCIP), which is already used in several of its applications, as demonstrated by a partnership with Circle earlier this year.

For now, ETH, USDC as well as LINK can be moved using Transporter through the following blockchains:

  • ethereum;
  • Arbitration;
  • Avalanche;
  • BNBChain;
  • Base ;
  • Polygon;
  • Optimism;
  • WEMIX.

Therefore, Chainlink is now inviting developers who want to integrate Transporter into their own applications to get in touch.

While bridges may be an “easy” target for hackers, the company emphasizes the importance of developing these technologies:

In an industry defined by hundreds of blockchains, layer 2s, sidechains, appchains, etc., there is an urgent need for a universal standard for cross-chain connectivity. Solving this problem is not easy: almost 50% of all value hacked in Web3 is due to cross hacks.

Today, many bridge technologies compete with each other and it will be interesting to see to what extent one or the other gains the upper hand in the coming years.
